About

Drs Adair, Denholm and Pugh are based at Woodside Health & Care Centre and Anderston Medical Centre.  We have in excess of 6000 patients with approximately 50% attending at each centre.  (However we would ask that patients only attend the centre at which they register).  We have a long tradition of accepting patients from so many diverse social and cultural backgrounds.

The practice has always strived to maintain the highest of standards in general practice and we believe that we are a caring, forward thinking and high achieving team.  We expect that our staff would greet you in a friendly, welcoming and professional manner and that we would deal, as such, with your request/problem appropriately whether it was a receptionist, nurse or doctor that you see.

Training Practice

We are a GP training practice the partners are approved trainers. Dr Adair is currently a trainer and Dr Denholm is in the process of becoming a trainer.  We have a new registrar (a doctor in training) working with us annually. The GP registrar working with our practice at the moment is Dr E Fisher.  Our Practice is continually assessed to allow us to be a training practice. On occasion, GP registrars record their consultations for training purposes. Patients would always be asked for written consent prior to videoing any consultation. Only the doctor and trainer have access to the video.

Rights and Responsibilities

In the rare event of a patient being violent or threateningly abusive to staff or other people in the surgery, we may call the police, and we may ask the Health Board to remove you from our list. There is a special GP practice in the city to which violent patients will be referred.

Suggestions or Complaints

We make every effort to give the best service possible to everyone who attends our practice. However we are aware that things can go wrong resulting in a patient feeling that they have a genuine cause for complaint. If this is so, we would wish for the matter to be settled as quickly, and as amicably, as possible. Simply contact the Practice Manager and she will set all the necessary wheels in motion.

Access to Doctors

In keeping with Government guidelines we are working towards an appointment system that allows access to a doctor or nurse within 48hrs. We are not always able to meet this, particularly at times of high demand. However, we guarantee to see anyone the same day if the patient considers this to be an emergency. Telephone consultations are available. There is a minor ailments clinic run by the practice nurse.

Information Sharing

The practice complies with Data Protection and Access to Medical Records legislation. Identifiable information about you will be shared with others in the following circumstances:
